After over a decade of development experience working within nonprofits as well as in the private sector, Serena Shapero now proudly serves as the Director of Individual Giving at the XPRIZE Foundation.

Serena is a seasoned development director, producer, and entrepreneur. She has supported organizations including Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the Anti-Defamation League, and Girls on the Run. She is a resolute and resilient team player who has a unique ability to generate interest and action to secure commitments to current and future institutional mission advancement. She is an innovative risk taker when seeking to achieve breakthrough goals by identifying untapped or underdeveloped revenue sources. Serena has extensive experience with building pipeline, creating impactful donor experiences, gift solicitations and closures, creating unique and meaningful stewardship paths, and implementing peer-to-peer events. She holds a B.A in Theater from Goucher College and currently lives near Washington DC with her husband. 

In addition to her advancement work, she is a Brene Brown’s Dare to Lead trainer and a Presence-Based somatic coach. She has also spent many years touring the world singing in an original nine-piece soul band!
