In May 2024, XPRIZE announced the 20 Finalist teams in the $100M XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition. These teams stood out among more than 1,300 registrants from 88 countries, earning their place in the final year of evaluation based on technical performance, scalability, and sustainability.
Spanning all four carbon removal pathways—Air, Ocean, Land, and Rocks—these Finalists demonstrated meaningful progress and bold vision in their mission to remove 1,000 tonnes of CO₂ in under a year. This cohort represents a pioneering force in the carbon removal space and serves as a powerful signal of what the future of climate innovation can look like.
